'Where will we go to break free from the Crows' is a fresh take on tracks from our past releases, but it also features new material, and a glimpse into a new way of working. This music is a fresh insight into our work, a musical energy that is all about shifting positive energy, healing many, and a moment to breath in amongst the chaos of the world at this time. 6 massive tunes, we hope you'll enjoy.

When I describe this music as world folk, it truly is. Recorded in studios all over the world, it couldn't help but be seeped in the history of where we worked, and inspired by the land and its' people. Building on the foundation of the work we did in Holland, the piano and core strings parts in a studio in northern Holland, all additional string parts and vocals were recorded in Beenleigh and Lismore, with the other instruments recored in their respective homes - Pay in London, Vincent in Amsterdam, and Benedict in Pindicherry (south east coast of India). Final touches and the mixing work was then done in Mount Molloy, Possum Brush, Sydney, and numerous beaches, rest stops, cafes, shopping malls, and friends & families' homes throughout Australia.

And here it is, a record that took about 9 months to complete, but finally it's finished. Released October 5, 2018 Musicians : - Sophia Kinston - electric violin / vocals - Jerome d'Odeurs - piano - Paya Lehane - flutes - Benedict Clark - percussion - Vincent Kuyvenhoven - percussion

After album no.2, 'Wide Awake I see the Storm', I wanted to release an interlude, a lullaby, something that would link past albums, and shine a light on Tailor Birds’ future. And here it is, ‘Stilts on the Water’, music to fall asleep to, and to wake up rejuvenated. Stilts also features the full-length version of ‘White Feather’, written at a time of chaos, of upheaval, a time when many people were struggling, but at a time of positive change.

This record captures a moment in time, a moment to breath. It’s a shout out to all the people who take risks each day to make the world a better place, and is dedicated to the people who make my heart warm, the ones who make me smile, this is for you, my friends’ children, I hope you’ll never be afraid to follow your dreams.

Credits released February 24, 2018 ‘Stilts on the Water’ was recorded in a few studios, a few key places of inspiration :

  • Created in Studio Orvelte with Paul G. Gräffner, in the beautiful dutch forest near in northern Holland.
  • Flutes recorded in London, UK.
  • Completed in Tewantin, Queensland, Australia, at the As You Are music studio (www.asyouare.me)

Sophie Kinston the force behind the Tailor Birds sound, she plays both electric violin and vocals on this record. Using a Bridge electric violin, she works with numerous BOSS pedals, plus a new homemade analogue delay pedal amongst other toys. This record also features the following musicians :

  • Jerome d’Odeurs - piano
  • Paya Lehane - flutes
  • Rodger Bradshaw - percussion
  • Charly Bradshaw – ‘Hush little baby’ harmony vocals

'Wide Awake I See The Storm' is Tailor Birds' 2nd album. The follow on from debut album, 'Runaway Sailors, Stay at Home Wives', the sound is more developed and provides a lush merging of electronics and acoustic sounds, experimental and classical elements, and a unique energy and vibrancy.

With electric violin at the core of its' sound, Tailor Birds creator, Sophie Kinston, merges strings, guitars, vocals, piano, brass, drums, electronics and more, to create a sound totally unique. You may have seen us at the Ferrara buskers festival in Italy a few years back, and at our shows we had a gorgeous home-made bird house made by Jerome, hanging out at every show. It was made with love, ingenuity, and just a little bit of joy......and so we thought we might make this available for anyone who wants one. Made by Jerome, these are pretty cute, just tell us in the notes section of the order form, what you want yours to be called, and we'll send it to you in the post. (Please note : these are not for outside use, but are for beauty purposes only, and each birdhouse is different.....currently these are only available in Europe.)

Feel free to add a little tip, to enable Sophie to keep recording the plant music

This plant music is just wild and over the past few years I've gotten more and more into these sound recordings. I've recently started recording the sound of buildings and their walls!! It's pretty wild to hear old churches make sound. Feel free to tip, if you feel inclined, as funds help me continue this work.

Plant music series 1

Tailor Birds

I've been working with the Plant Wave over the past year or so, a contraption that turns the electrical energetic currents of any living being, plant, even food items, and turns them into music.

I've been working with the Plant Wave over the past year or so, a contraption that turns the electrical energetic currents of any living being, plant, even food items, and turns them into music.

Plant music is featured in our concerts, in the latest upcoming recordings and on our YouTube channel. However, I wanted to release various plant music tracks in their own right, and here is the first of them, featuring the sounds of basil, tomatoes, and peppermint.

And so I connected basil, peppermint and tomatoes to the electrodes, and this is the result. There has been no treatment of the sound, change of notation, or additional instruments added, this is the pure and true sounds of the attached plant.

This is the first series of our Plant Wave music releases, and these are also available with our googly eye Merch......slip casted eyeballs, actual seeds to plant, and the sound recordings from the chosen plant - YOU CAN CHOOSE EITHER BASIL, TOMATO, or PEPPERMINT when you select the googly eyes.

N.B. these recordings are currently only available here, and not on Spotify, Amazon music, iTunes etc. Thanks for your support in this little side venture, each sale of this plant series, is the equivalent of over 2,000 listening ears on Spotify, your support enables us to produce more of these unique works.
